The information presented here is a summary of Autonom rent a car terms and conditions.
After the online booking, the customer receives from our Booking Department confirmation by e-mail regarding availability of the selected car class.
In order to make a final booking the customer must confirm the booking by e-mail.
Reservations will only be confirmed for a car class, not for a specific type/make model of the vehicle.
Your card will not be charged at this time. The total cost will be charged at the rental agency.
Amending a booking
The price guaranteed relates to the location/car class and date/time details selected. Once confirmed, any amendments to the reservation may affect the price and / or availability of the car. If you need to change or cancel your reservation please send your request via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org and specify your reservation number.
Age, driving license and credit card requirements
The Client must be 21 years old, hold a valid driving license , nationally and/or internationally (mandatory international driver license for documents issued in countries with other than the Latin alphabet and for those obtained through driving cars with the wheel on the right side, Ex: UK, India, Australia, Japan.
The driver license must be issued for at least a year ago, for category B.
At pick-up the the Client must present the original driver license with an Identity Card and a credit/debit card.
The use of a credit/debit card is mandatory for partial or total payment of the rental.
Pre-pay cards are not accepted
The drivers mentioned in the contract are the only persons allowed to drive the rented vehicle.
Additional driver has the same obligations as the main driver.
For the first additional driver there will be no extra charge.
If there are more than 2 drivers there will be a 15 eur/driver charge and need to be accepted their enrollment by signing the rental agreement personally.
Documents to present when picking up the car
The following documents must be presented by the main driver:
- identity card or passport
- valid driving license held for a minimum of 1 year
- approved charge/credit cards
- if necessary checks are required, you may be asked to present additional documentation (return flight ticket, hotel booking confirmation, etc.)
The Client pays in full, upon the signing of the contract, the rental (of the car and the optional items), optional and mandatory insurances and any additional taxes.
The main driver must own a valid credit card from a major credit card company. Credit card details will be taken at time of rental
Prices do no include: fuel costs, fines received for violating traffic rules on public roads and present national legislation and all the costs resulting from the action of local authorities towards the vehicle which is the subject of this Agreement, during the rental. The full payment of these amounts falls under the Client’s responsibility.
Car delivery and return
The Delivery and Return of the vehicle shall be made at the place, date and time agreed upon by both Client and Autonom and mentioned in the Agreement. Dropping-off the vehicle in other places than that of delivery is allowed only with Autonom’s approval and may result additional fees that will be charged by Autonom from the warranty deposit value, if the client decides the drop off location after the pick-up of the car.
The return comes into effect at the moment by signing the Check-in – Check-out document by Autonom and by the Client.
The delivery and return service is "on request" and it depends on the availability of the Autonom personnel from the rental office.
Delivery and collection requests must be sent with at least 24 hours in advance. The cars can be delivered during opening hours (Monday – Friday 09:00 – 18:00)
In cities where Autonom rent a car office exist car delivery and return is free of charge to / from any address within city limits.
Rental cars are not allowed to cross Romania’s borders.
When the renter and/or the additional driver is between the ages of 21 and 25, extra coverage charges and non-waivable excess will apply.
Out of hours rentals
At some locations, it may be possible to pick-up or return your car outside of opening hours.
A charge will apply.
Amended return fee
A fee is charged to the customer who returns the vehicle to a location other than that specified at check-out. One way fee (if applicable) will also be charged.
One way rentals
Autonom offers one way rentals between all cities where an Autonom office is available. Please consult with the Autonom office to determine if a one way rental is possible. Certain restrictions may apply. A one way fee will apply.
When you make the booking please inform us of which additional equipment you would like.
For your comfort and security, we can provide, at an extra charge, the following additional equipment:
Child safety seat - 3EUR/day
Snow chains - 3EUR/day
Navigation system - 5EUR/day
Ski roof box - 10EUR/day
Chauffeur Drive 20EUR/8h
In case of damage/deterioration the customer agrees to pay the cost of the rented additional equipment.
Returning the vehicle
The return of the vehicle with a delay up to 3 hours from the time mentioned in the Agreement will not determine additional taxes if it is announced 12 hours prior to the contractual deadline to return the vehicle. For an announced delay of more than 3 hours, there will be an additional fee equivalent to one day of rental.
Not announcing the delay leads to the levying of tariffs for the announced delays plus an extra charge of 5 EUR for each hour of delay up to the return of the vehicle.
Autonom provides you the car with a full tank at the beginning of the rental.
We advise you to fill up the tank prior to returning the vehicle.
Otherwise, the missing fuel will be charged at the Autonom applicable price at time of return of the vehicle.
The customer /authorized driver is covered by third party liability in the event of an accident. However, the renter may be held responsible, according to the Romanian regulation for damages which cannot be covered by TPL insurance. The renter is liable for car damage and theft of the rented vehicle, within the limits of a maximum amount.

The vehicle has TPL and CASCO insurances for damages and theft.
The insurance of persons and their assets from the rented vehicle are according to the Commission for Supervision of Insurances norms regarding Civil Liability insurance.
Upon signing the Agreement the Client chooses one of the following insurances: CDW or SCDW, to which we add (in both cases) the mandatory minimum deposit (warranty) of 150 EUR.
CDW is insurance for damage with a franchise specified in Public Prices, also called Warranty for damages. The value of the franchise and the mandatory minimum deposit is submitted upon the signing of the Agreement and will be returned to the Client at the moment of the return of the vehicle (except in cases covered by paragraph 4.4. of the rental agreement)
SCDW is an extended insurance whose daily rate is in the Rental Agreement. By paying the SCDW insurance, the Client will submit only the mandatory minimum deposit of 150 EUR and is exempted from payment of other obligations in the event of damage or theft, the exceptions being mentioned in Chap. 5 of this Agreement.
In case one of the drivers mentioned in the contract are aged between 21 and 25 years, or over 70 years :
- For CDW there will be 100 euros added to the Warranty for damages
- For SCDW there will be charged a double insurance charge.
In both cases the mandatory minimum deposit is 150 EUR.
The Warranty for the damages is billed / invoiced by Autonom to the Client under the following conditions:
a) Damages (accidents) caused to the rented vehicle found by the Police to be of the Client’s fault or with unknown author (including the situation in which the vehicle is found hit in the parking lot).
b) Theft of the rented vehicle
c) As well as in the case of any other exclusions from the Insurance according to Chap. 5 of the Rental Agreement.
The Client will not be responsiblle in case of damage caused by natural disasters, as long as he obays the present traffic rules.
The insurances do not cover loss, theft or destruction of property belonging to the Client or his companions, found in the vehicle.
Regardless of the type of insurance he has chosen the Client will submit, at the pick-up of the car, a deposit called the mandatory minimum Warranty of 150 EUR, and is responsible for repairing and for fully paying the collateral damage, in the following situations:
- Damage to the lower part of vehicle, of the rims, the tires or of the interior
- Partial or total damage caused by smoking in the car and/or during standing close to inflammatory surroundings
- Vehicle theft with all the original documents or car keys
- Any other exclusion from the CASCO insurance.
Please note that the insurances do not cover loss, theft or destruction of property belonging to the Customer or his companions, found in the vehicle.
Procedure will be advised at check-out.
Road assistance policy
Autonom provides road assistance for the entire period of the agreement, 24/7, for accidents or mechanical faults.
